The upper half comprising a heart flanked by bound bunches as was used harvesting stalk crops. That symbol, like a rotated bow tie, was used extensively on Roman military sword belts as decoration and protection. In combination with the heart, a Viking symbol, two histories combine suggesting an English origin. Surface textured from burial, the 24karat gold restored. and restored
